About Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese natural healing technique that uses the hands as a bridge to transmit universal life force energy for therapeutic purposes. It acts both on a physical level, to treat ailments and on a mental level to reduce stress. It can also act on a spiritually level to help find harmony. It has been recognised by the World Health Organisation as a therapy since the year 2000.
Reiki is used in more than 1000 hospitals and clinics in the USA, England and Holland (where it can be accessed through Social Security). It is also widely used in Europe and Japan, and was introduced in Spain relatively recently. It activates and harmonises vital energy and immune power while helping us to re-establish a natural and perfect state on a physical, mental, emotional and energetic level, treating the root of the problem. It soothes and reduces pain and tension in chronic or terminal illnesses, even healing them in some cases. It restores balance to the body by releasing blockages and toxins. It stimulates the natural functioning of the body, reducing healing time. It eliminates the side effects of modern medicine.
Reiki is a safe technique, with no side effects or contraindications, and is compatible with any other type of therapy or treatment. It has no religious affinity, no hierarchies, or obligatory beliefs. There are no prerequisites of any kind to learn Reiki: you just have to contact a Reiki practitioner who has reached the Master level (which certifies you to initiate others into Reiki). If you are thinking of learning Reiki, it is important to check that the Master you are going to go to has a certificate and "lineage", that is, the accreditation that verifies that the Master in question has studied Reiki and has reached the Master level to initiate others.

Hers are the following concepts and thoughts:
This is so great that we cannot measure it, so deep that we cannot fathom it; hence the name Reiki in Japanese.
Do you have a radio in Hawaii? When the radio station is broadcasting there are no connections between the station and your home, however, when you turn on the receiver and tune into the station, you receive what they are broadcasting. As we are not radio technicians we do not know how. The principles are the same with Reiki. This energy travels through space without wires, and we know that we can contact this great force. Once we make contact, the energy flows automatically. It is universal and unlimited. When the switch is on "yes", the power is unlimited. When you want to stop, you just take your hands away, it is very simple.
There is always a cause and an effect; remove the cause and there is no effect.
The true healer is Reiki, and Reiki is Divine Energy, and this would determine how well he or she would respond to the treatment. When the teaching is over, the energy is always "on," so the only decision the student has to make is whether or not to undergo the treatment. The practitioner has no control over what will happen, as the responsibility for whatever happens rests with the person to whom the treatment is given. This is not a conscious mental decision, but it lies deep within and involves choices beyond the intellectual framework. It is the body's own wisdom that determines whether it will accept the healing energy, the amount and duration of the transmission, and what it will do with it. The practitioner does not create this energy, he or she is simply the channel through which it is transferred, and by accepting this role of carrier, there is no attachment to the results. One does not become a healer, for Reiki is the healer.
Mrs. Takata taught that Reiki is harmless and cannot harm anyone; it does not destroy, but rather builds and protects. It enlivens all forms of life—plants, animals, fish, poultry, and human beings from childhood to old age—and can only do good.
"Reiki is natural," she said, and nothing unnatural can occur during healing, although it can sometimes speed it up dramatically. When an organ or gland is not functioning well, the energy works to stimulate its natural functioning. Diabetics, for example, notice how quickly their insulin intake is reduced when Reiki is applied. Broken bones heal quickly, reducing the process from months to weeks.
Mrs. Takata emphasized many features that were distinctive to Reiki, telling her students: Everyone has this potential. We are all made of this Universal Energy and we can use it to heal. It is a matter of choice. You can treat yourself as well as others. When you treat others you are not depleted. When you give Reiki, you also receive and energize yourself, because you are working with Universal Life Force, not your own energy. You become a channel of healing and you do not have to take credit or responsibility for the results.
With Reiki there is always hope. As long as there is life and the desire to invest time in the treatments, there will be help. Recovery will happen inch by inch, like removing a layer of paint, but no matter how deep the cause is, Reiki will reach it and remove it. Let us not give up. As long as there is breath, we should try.
Just for Today: Do not anger. Do not worry. Be grateful. Work with dilligence and honour. Be kind to yourself and others.
